Willson manuscripts, ca. 1949-1960.

Summary: Correspondence and articles; correspondence is between Roscoe G. Willson and the Arizona Historical Society. Also present are two booklets authored by Willson entitled 'Pioneer Cattleman of Arizona' and 'Pioneer and Well Known Cattlemen of Arizona' respectively. Also present are many newspaper clippings written by Willson for his "Arizona Days and Ways" column dating back to 1948, which appeared in The Arizona Republic newspaper. There are two chronological indexes to the articles, one typewritten and the other handwritten in pencil. The latter includes only the articles appearing in the newspaper during the year 1953.

Roscoe George Willson was born in Granite Falls, Minnesota, July 13, 1879. His family moved to the Dakota Territory in 1881. During the construction of the Great Northern Railroad Roscoe's father ran a farm machinery business and started the Pembina County Democratic Weekly Newspaper. Roscoe graduated from high school in Bathgate, North Dakota at the age of 16 and began working at his father's newspaper. In 1898 Roscoe went to Minneapolis to work in his uncle's printing plant.
